Well, the builders have been on site for three weeks now and it is unbelievable how quickly everything is going up.
We’ve got four guys working on the project (I know their drinks order off by heart now!). They are there six days a week, whatever the weather. They’ve even created their own little workshop in our garage complete with essentials including a microwave and radio. My son now also wants to be a builder and keeps getting his mini tool bench out to copy them.
The first stage of the project involved creating a weatherproof cover to erect over the kitchen and then the roof was taken off so the brickwork could start going up.
The steel for the windows has gone in too so we can start to see what the shell of the house will look like and how much larger the window into the kitchen will be. All very exciting!
We’ve chosen (and ordered) our bathroom from Victoria Plumb and we are spending every spare minute trawling wallpaper and paint sites for inspiration. We are a long way off from that stage, but it’s hard not to get carried away.
The only downside so far is the mess on the lawn and the cement which gets everywhere and has been walked through the house by my husband plenty of times (it is even in my dog’s coat!). All in all, not too bad.
