The plasterer is booked – what to do before they arrive

So you’ve found your plasterer and agreed a date. What should you do next?

There are some basic things you can do to prepare before the day arrives:

  1. Clear the room of furniture
  2. Remove as much furniture as possible to allow the plasterer to move around freely. They will protect everything with dust sheets, but it is best to clear breakable items out of the room, just in case. It’s also worth clearing furniture, where possible, from the route the plasterer will take from their van outside to the room they will be working on.

  1. Remove wallpaper
  2. If you have agreed that you will remove wallpaper, ensure this is done before the plasterer arrives. Notify the plasterer of any changes or concerns you may have after this is done – it’s best the plasterer knows beforehand if anything has changed since he saw the room and quoted for the job.

  1. Re-confirm the start date and time
  2. It’s worth re-confirming the date and time of arrival with the plasterer a week before; sometimes things do go wrong and dates and times may need to change slightly.
