Justyna wakes up a boring bedroom

Bring a spare bedroom back to life in London using magnetic walls

The spare bedroom can often be one of the most neglected rooms in a house, used as a storage space for clothes or a dumping ground for unwanted items. When homeowner Justyna Madry won a room makeover courtesy of British Gypsum Homeowner, she transformed her guest room into a stylish haven suitable for rest and work.

Justyna Madry was named one of the British Gypsum Homeowner Creative Collaborators and received £500 and ThistlePro Magnetic to redecorate a room in her house.

Justyna comments: “We live in a ground floor flat of a period property in London where space is a premium. Our spare bedroom is multi-functional and we use it as an office come guest bedroom. It needed a bit of TLC so we decided to invest the prize money and install the magnetic plaster in the room to create a contemporary room, perfect for work and guests".

Justyna installed the magnetic plaster behind the bed, to enable her to mix and match artwork as often as she wants to.

It was also placed around the desk so the wall could eventually be used as a mood board by attaching magnets to items such as photographs, articles and knick-naks.

To create a crisp clean look, the walls were painted white and accents of grey were incorporated throughout the room. Grey bedding with mute mustard tones adds a touch of colour and the look was finished off with a vintage style desk which could easily be used for work, or styled with trinkets when guests visit.
